Hello all.

Happy New Year from FROntline blog team.

We started this blog a few months ago when the situation at FRO became unbearable for many, due to the unfairness and the bullying attitude of some management staff. We thought to provide a way to the hard working frontline agents to express themselves without fear of harassment.

One of the hot topics that were treated was the hiring process at FRO and we believe that the message got where it was supposed to get. We will continue to publish your comments on this. Furthermore, as some have suggested, and as long as the Government does nothing about it, we will consider publishing details, including the name(s) of whoever gets a position at FRO through special connections in any future competition!

For the record only, we had to exclude quite a few comments because they were too improper in terms of the language used. So, please (agents and angry managers!) keep it as clean as possible.

Also, remember to share some of your stories about the hard work you do to serve our clients.

Thank you and all the best for 2009
FROntline blog Team.

  8. those girls are hot! you go Rob!

  9. Based on the comments here it sounds as if none of these girls can walk and talk at the same time. How did they ever survive in life before they met Rob?
Not one comment has said that they are bad employees or can't handle the job or are a negative influence within the office.
The only negative posted in these comments is that they are friends with Rob? That’s it? So they shouldn't win a competition because they are friends with a manager lol
In that case I might not as even bother to apply for another job in the OPS, I’m screwed!

  10. I've worked in 5 different depts at OPS, I've seen some dirty managers around but nothing like FRO's. I mean come on! Harem in the OPS? What's next?
These managers will end up all having cases at FRO (with tons of arrears).
Is anybody running this place at all?

  11. would love to share my comments but the bullying and intimidation will be too much for me to bare. Thank you for bringing out the truth.

  12. Robert Rotondo's actions speak for him. The only thing he cares about at FRO is his pay cheque and the girls around him. Management skills? What the heck are you talking about? He can even handle a call. You must be either new or belong to his Harem.
Dedicated to FRO staff? Be specific. What gender?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I am speaking for many FRO staff that are too afraid to voice their opinion by agreeing with the comments of the anonymous dated Jan.10, 2009 regarding Robert Rotondo. For the record, I am a female and most certainly not part of the the so called fictious harem.
    - In response to your statement regarding his hiring practices, I have observed that he has hired dozens of brightest and the smartest frontline staff for FRO.Everyone he hired has done well in the jobs they were hired to do. By the way, if you feel so strongly about his hiring practices then I would suggest you grieve it.Then you will realize that Robert has always hired people based on their qualifications. Maybe, the reason for the hostility from Mandy is because she applied for a job and did not get it!!!
    - Don't get me wrong, there are managers who we should have issues with. Clearly, Robert is not one of them.
    - Furthermore, we all work to get the pay cheque, including you and me.
    - I also agree with the anonymous regarding people wanting to join his team. You can ask people who have recently joined his team.

  14. Grieving Robert's hiring practices to who? to his friend Nancy? She's given him the privilege to hire despite his reputation. I've started really wondering what kind of relationship he's got with her.

I sure work to get a paycheque, but I make sure I deserve it. Are you gonna tell me what Robert does to deserve a paycheque? by sleeping with female staff maybe? I know the guy since his Intake time.

Robert should have been kicked out a long time ago when he was caught flirting with Lucy. Tell him to zip up and quit these unethical habits. FRO is not a whorehouse, It is a gov't office.

    ReplyDelete
  15. So Mandy - Robert and Nancy?? Why don't you stop wondering about their relationship and spend your time wisely like trying to make yourself a better person. You are displaying your ignorance and cowardliness on many levels.

1 - You don't file a grievance with the director. I suggest you read article 22 of our collective agreement. I am surprised that someone that has been victimized for so long does not know this. While you are reviewing article 22 you should also look up the definition of slander and liable.

    2) Robert and Lucy went to lunch many times and that was several years ago. Did you ever see them flirting? Let me guess - you heard
about it. People of the opposite sex are capable of being just friends and nothing more. Did you know that?
    - I am embarrassed to say that I work for FRO. Mandy, why don't you do the families of Ontario a favour and resign to make room for someone with a positive attitude and work ethics. As you said this is a government office. So if you decide to stay then do FRO a favour and change your attitude.

  16. You MR/MS Anonymous are a Pathetic Coward who stands behind Anonymous. You are so easy and free to name names.
I will have you know that the comment you made about fast promotion of Terri is not only wrong--it's pathetic. Instead of putting people's names on here--put your own. You cowardly pathetic LOSER. Why don't look at the user logs--what's your at? Oh that's right you are the loser who can't get the ESO-- probably because the managers know how bitter you are. You should ask for help on getting the ESO position from those women who did get it.

In this business that we are in we have to deal with a lot of crazy people. TO put someone's name--especially the last name is so irresponsible of you. These people have kids/families-- who do you think you are.
I am Terri's friend and I resent you speaking of my friend in this way.

What did Frank sleep with Rob too??

Why not just get the point that you are not able to do the job. Stop making excuses and pointing out other people--look at yourself. Just remember one thing--when you spit in the air, it falls in your face.

  17. "When you spit in the air, it falls in your face". How about "what goes around comes around" ?

  18. Anonymous of Jan 14 8.50 aka Robert Rotondo.

I don’t wonder about your relationship with Nancy. You can go to hell both of you!

I have never filed any grievance against anyone, but I express myself the way I see it fit and you are in no position to advise anyone to be a better person. Just look at yourself and see what you do first.

As to you and Lucy, you may remember when I once told you how you liked Portuguese women and you gave me a look that showed how proud you were of what you were doing. Yes you went with her to lunch many times, and we all knew that but we also knew you were dating. Is that proper for you as a manager? You wanna talk about laws and articles? I can suggest some for your review. There are a few words for you to look up as well. How about indecency and integrity to start with.

People of the opposite sex are capable of being just friends and nothing more, but as a manager, you are not supposed to be anyone’s friend.

Robert, don’t talk about positive attitudes and work ethics. Just zip up and shut the hell up.

    Mandy.

  19. This blog is so creative, I love it.

It started with: “The intent of this blog is to provide a free and safe platform for all frontline staff at the Family Responsibility Office (FRO), so they can share some of their stories, and let the public know about their stress and frustration, and how they really care about the people they serve.” …

Then it became: “We will continue to publish your comments on this. Furthermore, as some have suggested, and as long as the Government does nothing about it, we will consider publishing details, including the name(s) of whoever gets a position at FRO through special connections in any future competition!”…

And now it is posting quotes and sayings!! ..

Well, here’s mine: ***“There are no stupid comments, just stupid people”***

What is next?.. recipes? Diet tips? Birth control methods? ..

Thanks for this blog..it is really changing the world!

    ReplyDelete
  20. It is time to shut this BLOG down. Obviously it serves no purpose. Petty comments are now out of control. It sounds like 'high school" stuff. We are not going to change anything with these types of comments. It should not be an attack site. Read some of these comments, very immature. We are adults and one of our complaints is that management doesn't treat us like adults. What do we sound like now, not adults, that's for sure.

This BLOG was meant to bring hope and change to FRO however it has failed.

Moderators: Please let the BLOG go now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh no,please...I am so looking forward for the birth control methods

  22. Are you tired of defaming about staff and managers? It is the executives turn now? You clearly don’t understand hierarchies and are incapable of visualizing the level of responsibility that somebody on that level has. You can call it arrogance and I’d name it guts and dedication… especially in our office. Do you think executives attend all day meetings to talk about the weather? Maybe they are dealing with contentious issues that they didn’t cause but they are liable for.
Are you expecting them to do “something” about all these accusations and gossips? Based on what grounds? You are talking about performance issues, dishonesty, inappropriate behavior, incompetence and negligence..well if your wish came true many staff would be dismissed!, and I am not talking about managers or executives.

I find this blog absolutely useless and un-moderated… very irresponsible and ironic from somebody that demands justice. First and last time I visit this site, what a waste of time!

  23. I was shown this site by a fellow OPS'er. I work for another Ministry and I just wanted to say congrats!! You all look like childish idiots!

    Job well done!!

  25. I see managers dont like to face the truth!!

Take it and swallow it, 'cause i know you wont do anything to make things rigth, you dont have the skills, or willingness to do something about it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The executives?! We know what this means is in a civilized office.
FRO is the new Roman Empire within the OPS. Its administration is based on dictatorship and corruption. The Director wants to be the undisputed chief like Julius Cesar, but she ended eating her best friend’s spit in a cheap cup of coffee.

    Sad life!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've worked for a variety of large organizations in the private sector and you clearly have not seen a boss programmed to be a Dictator. Some of my previous supervisors and colleagues believe that kindness is a virtue of losers and this is not the case in our office. This is business and politics and there are levels of management that seem not to be clear for many in our office.

There are more ministries in government and instead of trying to change the system it would be more feasible to move on.

It is a blessing to have a government job in this global economic crisis and this malicious blog will not solve anything and it is only creating a poisonous work environment.

    ReplyDelete
  28. To Anonym Jan 18 5.51

You see this blog as malicious because you as a manager, you want the status quo to last forever so you can carry on with your nasty habits, including managing your second job from the government office instead of taking care of clients’ sad issues, dating female staff and spending hours chatting and drinking coffee.

Yes, it is a blessing to have a gov't job for people like you, but thanks to the technology and to this blog, your good old days at FRO are gone.

I trust this blog won’t be closed because it is serving a purpose, but if for any reason it does, then I’ll open a new one, and believe me, it will be a true graphic blog.

  29. If you have a problem being anonimous, why dont you start by telling us your name, I mean manager name, and tell us how many relatives have you hired and how many you've denied position setting aside valid and merit applications, and still deny it. shame on you!
    -Name sure go ahead,

Robert's harem I agree its happening, Lois can't just stand and do nothing.

  31. That’s right! Moving on is the solution here. I bet you have tried with no luck.. wondering if it is that resentful and malevolent attitude , or maybe that habit of slandering everybody around you to hide your own weaknesses or simply your lack of skills.

Maybe the source of all those problems in our office that you want to rectify with the magical powers of this blog is that we have many people like you that come to work to gossip and whine instead of taking their job seriously for the sake of the families that we are trying to help.

  32. I have been with FRO for many years. I have also been a union supporter and was one of many who walked the line 2x to support my brothers and sisters in the OPS. I was there with many others when we also fought and won a grievance against FRO to ensure our last names would not be given out to the public without our consent. I am very disappointed to see that the moderator (to what I've been told by many of my colleagues is aka as Andy (?)) is releasing colleagues full names on a public website. Moderator (?Andy?) if you're a union rep or an employee who benefits from the union how can you go against what we fought for and won!? Regardless of your feelings about FRO Management or the staff have some respect for what we the union have won for you. You have been afforded the luxury of choosing to release your full name or not so please afford the same luxury to your colleagues and moderate this site properly and if you can't then close the blog.

Yes, I too am ashamed, as a long standing and respected ESO that we (FRO staff/ management/ you) have turned what seemed like your good intention into a whining series of anonymous rants.

At the end of the day and when we sign that contract next week we are all Brothers and Sisters.

    In Solidarity.

  33. Whose bright idea was it to bring on GICs not to be confused with the Bank of Canada. This is a waste of time. Another example of poor decisions made by management. Why don't they ask the front line staff for ideas, they would be the ones that would come up with great ideas. So let's recap the GICs. They take calls to improve the phone stats for downtown purposes only but then the other agents i.e. ESOs have to call the clients back because the GICs aren't able to read the notes on the computer. This is a waste of time. It is counter-productive. ESOs not only have to do their own phone shifts, now they have to waste their time calling clients back. There goes their userlogs. It is obvious that this office is not into quality work, only quantity. Reconsider this idea, IT STINKS. We have tried this in the past. Why do the same mistakes keep happening?

Another thing, new ESOs are still doing ESRs phone shifts. Why? Get it together, managment and fix the probelms around you instead of wasting time. This is the most ridculous plan there is. This is adding on more pressure on new ESOs. They are overwhelmed and you are causing them grief. Another example of disrespecting staff. What's that annual BBQ called-oh yeah, STAFF APPRECIATION DAY. Rename the BBQ please.

    ReplyDelete
  34. FRO is GUANTANAMO BAY.

    Only managers are released.............

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good points Anonym Jan24. GICs idea reflects the narrow-minded attitude of FRO management. This is all about external consumption and as you said, downtown stats. Things are great as long as the wait time is low. When a client calls and the GIC agent asks him/her if he/she wants a call back from the case owner ESOs, the client would never say NO.

This other retarded female manager Denise sent an email this week saying that ESOs check the cases but don’t call the client back. How stupid is this? I guess the GIC was her idea as well. Then why doesn’t she call the clients herself? All she does when she’s not eating or cruising is thinking of some sort of unnecessary projects to put more pressure on ESOs.
FRO needs well trained ESOs to solve clients issues, not GICs agents. I would really promote all ESRs to ESO positions and get rid of the ESR position for good. There will be more than enough money to pay all the ESOs if FRO gets rid of half of service managers. Seriously, why do we need all these managers for?

One thing about the annual BBQ: Get rid of all the food and music and buy some professional appreciation certificates. Then let the ADM hand them out to all agents with a smile even if it would take her the whole week to do so. We are government professionals who handle one of the most stressful jobs in the province, not fast food servers. So some respect would be appreciated. Stop your lousy annual certificates because most of us shred them the same day they receive them.

Talking about staff appreciation, do you guys notice how FRO treats the agents who leave the office for another job or retirement? You get a party depending on your position or the level of relationship you have maintained with management. How many excellent agents have left FRO after many years of outstanding service and were treated like strangers?

    Sad, really sad.

  36. To the disappointed OPSEU rep,

I’m disappointed but not too surprised by your comment. Why don’t you do something about management malpractices instead of throwing the blame on an agent voicing his opinion?
where were you when agents complain about management abuse but were too afraid to file grievances?

Wake up brother. Just step aside and let people express themselves the way they want.

    In solidarity? sure!

  37. Where were they? Probably in one of those long weekend meetings in a Wasaga beach Resort. That is how part of our union dues are being invested

    ReplyDelete
  38. POC team. Why do some members of that team have so much time on their hands? They walk up and down the office all day long chatting it up with anybody who cares to listen to them. POC manager try to control your team and keep an eye on the ones that say are up to date. Shouldn't they be helping the others on the fabulous POC team.

    ReplyDelete
  39. OPSEU rep: Beside of going to Wasaga at our expense, what have you done to address the issues discussed here? Union gets a good chunk of money from our pay check and should be dealing with management on our behalf

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would like to see a special investigation that will look into the issue of FRO managers' (and the Director's)qualifications relevant to the job they are supposed to handle.

    ReplyDelete
  41. We can include the request for investigation in the petition. Hopefully, attitudes change.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am sure, who reads this blog is happy since there was no other way to bring out the truth to all the malpractices happening at FRO, just wait until the clients find this out,or the Media, in my humble opinion Lois and Nancy are just sitting bulls behind close doors and they don't really know what actually happens at the FROntlines, there's little enforcement because of the demands to answer the phones, that's not a good way to deliver the phony vision Nancy came up with.
