ESRs are Underclassified.

Last year, many ESRs signed up for a request to have FRO management review their classification. We have not heard from managers since then. I understand that managers may not be able to change things but at least they should get back to their teams and advise of the outcome.
For the job we do and the abuse we get, I think we, ERSs, are underclassified and deserve some recognition.

ESR.

  1. Dear ESR,

Your best bet to have your job reevaluated is to contact your Union. They can initate the job review on behalf of all the ESR's. Don't fixate on "management" addressing the issue. You, I am sure, have been in a union environment a long while and must have come to understand the limitations that management has. Complaining that you are abused and underpaid are not of value, you must prove on paper that you have be classified incorrectly.

  2. I have to agree completely with the last comment. With the obvious split between management and staff, your boss won't truly give the slightest crap about your job and it's prescribed duties. Do what you need to keep your ass covered and that's it. Lord knows that extra work or initiative is worth squat at FRO. This is probably the largest downfall to being part of a unionized environment. The good still outweighs the bad.

I belive you completely missed my point. This has nothing to do with the management team giving a "slightest crap about your job" and more to do with job evaluations. Jobs are evalutated and rated. Now, given that ESR's have been placed in a certain spot on the org. chart it is up to the ESR's as a whole to work together with their union local to bring a grievance forward to have their jobs reevaluated. The first step to take is to have all the ESR's write down everything that they do that is assigned to them. What you could also do is get a copy of both job specs and compare the two and see where they differ. Do you do many of the same functions as those classified above you? Are you only doing a couple? Are they entirely different? Your shop steward should be able to help you get going on this. Just remember that management is not to blame for this and resenting them does no one any good.
